Lady Maroons from the University of the Philippines got its first win against the UE Lady Warriors in a 5-setter, (3-2), 25-18, 25-15, 18-25, 25-27, 15-6.


The new UP squad really had a good start in the first two sets (25-18,25-15) but became cold in the 3rd set (18-25) and was forced to a decider in the 4th set (25-27) by the Lady Warriors.

Princess Se, one of only three veterans in UP’s starting unit, top scored for the Lady Maroons with 14 points off 11 hits and three aces while rookie Aliyah Ong provided UE’s defense with a steady stream of hits as she finished with 12 markers.

On the other hand, Faith Bulan paced the Lady Warriors with 17 points but could not get support from the rest of the UE crew.
