It was a very exciting match to see two powerhouses from Asian and Europe. Iran showed its best to defeat and outsmart the European squad, Serbia in an epic 5-setter match last Sunday.
Iran was able to win in the decider and finally trounced the Serbians, (3-2) 25-20, 24-26, 23-25, 25-22, 15-12. I thought the match would just in four sets but the Iranians were able to make their run and went ahead 25-22 against the determined Serbians to win that game.
It was in the fifth set that Iran was able to find its best way to seal the match. With their good serves, blocks, sets and digs, Iran got its first win.

It was a lonely day for the defending champ, Poland, when the Brazilian powerhouse clobbered them in 4 sets, 25- 22, 25-20, 22-25, 25-15.

The Asian powerhouse bounced back in the three remaining sets. It was a lucky day for Japan in the second set because of strong offense and defense that led them ahead, 25-21. That was the time that the Japanese squad found their momentum to stay ahead the Finns.
But the Finns were trying to go ahead the Japanese with their strong blocks, 10-6 in the third set. With good receives and digs from the Japanese libero, Takeshi Nagano, the Asian went ahead the European powerhouse, 15-14 and eventually ended the set, 25-19.
It was also a very tight set with Finland tried to even the match and forced the Japanese squad into a decider. Japan was ahead 16-11 and reached the second technical timeout. But the Finns made their run and stayed close, 21-20. And the match was sealed with Tatsuya delivered his powerful spike, 25-22.
The Americans were able to outsmart the host, Argentina, in their second match during the 2013 World League. The Argentines won the opening set because of their strong offense above the net. But the Americans did not stop and bounced back in the three remaining sets. It was an action-packed four sets between these two teams (3-1) 22- 25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-16
It was in the second set that Kawika Shoji showcased his best setting skills to win over Argentina.Despite Luciano De Cecco’s wisest setting skills, they were not enough to outsmart the Americans.
What an exciting match for these two squads! They proved that volleyball is really one of the exciting team sports nowadays!
Canada bagged its home victory last night against the Netherlands when the former outsmarted the latter in 4 sets in Quebec (3-1), 25-22, 22-25, 27-25, 27-25.
Canadian Gavin Schmitt was the top scorer of his team with 23 points while Wytze Kooistra from the Netherlands scored 28 points.

Japan is Korea’s biggest rival in volleyball. But the Koreans upset the Japanese in 4 sets, (3-1), 25-22, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19 in Hwasung South Korea.
During the first two sets, the Koreans didn’t allow the Japanese to make their run and they dominated all throughout the game. But the Japanese adjusted in the third set especially in their attacks and gave Tatsuya Fukuzawa. Moon got a knee injury and was replaced by Jeon Kwang-in. Japan capitalized the absence of Moon Despite the effort of Park Chul-Woo and Moon Sung-min, Japan went ahead, 25-21.
Jeon stepped up in the fourth set and showcased his unstoppable spikes above the net. Great quick plays from the setter, Han Sun Woo and sealed the match, 25-19.
